City of Boulder – Fire Station #3

A Highly Efficient and Sustainable Home for Our Community's Firefighters

Providing support for our firefighters is of growing importance as public safety professionals face increasingly intense and sometimes unprecedented challenges to keeping their communities safe. Davis Partnership Architects is honored to serve the unique needs of first responders, providing fire station design resulting in efficient and inspiring spaces yet also meet strict and often highly scrutinized budgets. This state-of-the-art fire station is designed to improve response coverage to a rapidly growing community while delivering an iconic design that celebrates the dedication and bravery of our first responders.  The 22,000 sf fire station and 6000 sf of supporting administration space integrates sustainability and flexibility into its design, exceeding Boulder’s Climate Action Goals while supporting the city’s desire to support expanded emergency medical service in the future. The Davis Partnership Architects team worked with KL&A Engineers and Builders to incorporate re-used steel from the decommissioned Boulder County Hospital into columns for the fire station, helping to reduce embodied carbon in the project. The Davis Partnership team also included civil engineering consultants at Martin/Martin Consulting Engineers, and MEP consultants ME Engineers, along with its own teams from its landscape architecture and interior design studios.   [Read More]
