An Interior Shaped by Nature

At Anythink Nature Library, nature is not a view framed beyond the glass. It is a relationship made tangible through material, movement, light, and experience. A living ribbon of plants winds through the building. Sculptural skylights frame the changing sky. Expansive views maintain a connection to the surrounding prairie, while the open-air Kinship Garden brings daylight, weather, and the seasons into the center of daily activity.
Nature is often treated as a destination, somewhere we must travel to experience. At Anythink Nature Library, the interior design begins with a different idea: nature is not separate from us. We are part of it. The natural elements do not exist as an aesthetic; they are an invitation to touch, climb, pause, gather, reflect, and develop a relationship with the natural world on their own terms.
Locally sourced granite boulders flow through the building and continue into the landscape beyond, dissolving the threshold between library and prairie. Recycled ocean-plastic pendants and countertops containing reclaimed metal bring environmental stewardship into everyday spaces. Other details reveal themselves more gradually. A flowing terrazzo pathway conceals 50 brass inlays depicting animals native to Colorado, rewarding those who slow down and look closely.
Travel along the Corridor of Discovery where views into the Kinship Garden invite visitors to keep moving, looking, and wondering. Discover study rooms with botanical wallcoverings that preserve real flowers, grasses, and herbs. At last, the Dark Room emerges, its curved walls clad in charred shou sugi ban wood evoke the warmth and familiarity of gathering around a campfire.
Together, these moments transform the interior from a space to observe nature into a place to inhabit nature. The interior does more than bring nature inside. It reminds us that we were never outside of it.
