Meeting the behavioral health needs of Eagle County

Davis Partnership Architects partnered with Vail Health and Eagle Valley Behavioral Health to develop a new behavioral health campus in an underserved region of Colorado. Now, rather than driving hours away for behavioral health services, residents of Eagle County can find comfort and healing in their own community.

As the first piece of the new Edwards Community Health Campus, the Precourt Healing Center is a state-of-the-art behavioral health facility. It offers separate adolescent and adult common rooms, dining areas, direct access to outdoor spaces, and patient therapy spaces that are designed to promote healing and mental wellness. Centralized staff and patient support areas allow for a balance of security and flexibility, prioritizing operations concerns, staff safety, and patient care. The architectural aesthetic incorporates natural elements, promoting a warm and inviting environment while also breaking down the stigmas around behavioral health care.

Adjacent to the inpatient building on the Edwards Community Health Campus is the Wiegers Mental Health Clinic, which is a creative re-use of an existing former retail building on the site. This facility is a home for outpatient services, such as TMS and ketamine treatments, group therapy, and intensive outpatient programs to prevent patients from escalating to the point of hospitalization. The clinic planning also incorporates strategies to accommodate future growth to address the needs of the community.
