The mission of Anythink Libraries is to “Help People Find Their Place in Nature” for the residents of Adams County and the surrounding region. They are community assets, designed to provide delightful opportunities for children and adults to learn about “anything under the sun” in beautiful, comfortable spaces.
Their newest – the Anythink Nature Library – is an outstanding example. It is a place where curiosity and care take root, distinguished by its complex entry structure and curvilinear design, it stands out on its 15-acre hillside location adjacent to the 140-acre Aylor Open Space and trail network. Once inside, the central clerestory spine and huge organically shaped skylights fill the space with natural light.
It is designed for exploration in every season, offering a variety of spaces and experiences that help the visitor connect with the outdoors in a meaningful way. These include:
- Indoor/outdoor programming spaces including a nature lab, bright sunroom, and a calming dark room for both active learning and quiet reflection
- Exterior gardens that invite hands-on discovery as well as peaceful moments among plants
- An open-air kinship garden at the heart of the building, blending art, nature, and community
- A first-of-its-kind sculptural feature column signaling guests’ point of arrival.
- A one-mile loop trail that winds through the property for walks, wonder, and fresh air
- Nature-focused materials and “Try-Its” available for guests to borrow, selected to encourage outdoor learning and adventure
- A café with indoor/outdoor seating, perfect for gathering, resting, and enjoying the surroundings
