Complex design-build industrial renovation accomplished in three phases
Matheson Tri-Gas, a leading global supplier of specialty gases and equipment, commissioned Davis Partnership Architects and their design-build partner, Golden Triangle Construction, Inc., to complete a 24,000 square-foot renovation of the company’s existing facility. The redevelopment includes five advanced technology labs designed to handle ultra-high purity hazardous production gases as well as five custom built walk-in hoods that house analytical equipment for monitoring gas purity levels. The labs are supported by research and development offices and three clean room spaces (Class 10, Class 100, and Class 1000). This complex design-build was delivered in three phases to assure that the building’s daily operations continued normally throughout construction. Extensive communication with the owner was required to maintain existing operations and safety procedures throughout the process. Planning of the lab renovation was also carefully orchestrated to assure efficient distribution of gas supplies, required room exhaust functioning, and necessary connections to multiple abatement systems. Davis Partnership also provided extensive site work for the construction of new gas storage and supply buildings. A containment berm area was built to house a twenty-foot high hazardous scrubber and two twelve-foot diameter waste tanks.
