Precast concrete innovations recognized in PCI Design Awards
A dramatic population influx as a result of the North Dakota oil boom was placing extreme pressure on the limited medical facilities of Williston’s Mercy Medical Center (now CHI St. Alexius Health - Williston Medical Center) and its twenty-five-bed capacity. Davis Partnership Architects designed a freestanding twenty-three-hour ambulatory surgery and birthing center to help off-load the increased patient volume and expand the facility’s long-term service to the Williston community. This fast-track, design-through-construction schedule was achieved in fifteen months, and since its completion, the BirthPlace at Williston and Outpatient Surgery Center has been recognized as a finalist in the 51st Annual PCI Design Awards for outstanding use of precast concrete.
